Ecclesiastes 3:11, “He has set eternity in the human heart.”
I’m quite a melancholic person and am easily moved by sights, experiences, moments and imaginations. For example, sometimes I feel homesick for a place I’ve never been, or I have this sense of longing for something I’ve not even experienced.
In some way or another, I think every one of us does. So that feeling of not being where we thought we’d be at this point in our lives or our hope to have been a little further on than we are right now, is so real to us.
According to Solomon, eternity is planted in our hearts by God. Another way of saying it is like this, to quote from the film Unshakeable, “That little bit of sadness in the mornings you spoke of? Perhaps you’re not doing what you’re supposed to be doing.”
Maybe every longing, every ache in our hearts is actually pointing out our destiny?
Listen to the ache! Not all aches needs HEALING; some need HEEDING.
Maybe the ache is a reminder you’re born for more? Selah.
